Ministry of Education and Jordan Health Communication Partnership finalize the Electronic version of “Passport to My Future”

Amman – Jordan Health Communication Partnership (JHCP), a USAID funded project, together with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health launched the electronic version of the “Passport to My Future” booklet on Wednesday Dec 9 2009 under the patronage of His Excellency Secretary General of Ministry of Education Dr. Fawwaz Jaradat.

JHCP had commissioned JAID Productions for the development of the electronic version of the booklet to ensure wider outreach to all schools and greater student interactivity, and the e-version is scheduled to be uploaded on the Ministry of Education’s EduWave portal.

Dr. Jaradat expressed his admiration of the emergence of such innovative learning methods: “JHCP has done an excellent job in this blended approach of traditional methods with e-learning aiming to provide innovative learning materials to students of the Kingdom.  This approach offers an opportunity to dramatically strengthen school-community alliances for an important social goal: improved family and community health” he said. “The first step towards a completely blended approach was taken when the Passport to My Future was uploaded as a PDF on the Ministry’s intranet through Queen Rania Center for Information Technology. This dramatic scale-up offers enormous health benefits to students, and aims at empowering them, as well as ensure institutionalization and sustainability of the HCSI activities”, he added.

On his part, JAID Productions Executive Manager Batter Qarden expressed his admiration of such an initiative: “We are extremely proud of this partnership with JHCP. We believe this is a significant project, which will most definitely engage students, and result in positive health and social behavior among the Jordanian community.” He added.

Passport to My Future, which was originally produced by JHCP in 2006, was distributed to 115 Health Competence schools as well as 3,000 school libraries across the Kingdom. It covers various topics including nutrition, personal hygiene, anti-smoking, exercise, future planning, and family planning, with the aim of empowering students with the appropriate resources, increasing early adoption of healthy lifestyles, creating “change agents” within schools, families, and communities, reinforcing positive change on gateway behaviors, in addition to enriching students’ learning experience.
